We had a great Valentines Day. We started off the day with Poppy's Pancakes, a Bennion family tradition. Then we opened a few gifts. Don had just got home from London the night before and got the boys some candy and a Thomas the Train book, which William hardly lets out of sight. Don got me two beautiful scarves--scarves are
the fashion here. They are really so pretty and Don did a great job picking them out.

I learned how to make chocolates with Sandi Briscoe, an American in our ward here. She made us some for Christmas so I hit her up to teach me how to make them for Don for Valentine's Day.

Don and I left all three kids that night and went to a restaurant just down the road from us. It looked like a normal hyggelig place from the outside. It was extremely hyggelig and extremely gourmet and extremely delicious. Wow. Here's a couple of pictures from the night.

This is a steak and potato dish from the island of Bornholm, in Denmark. This wooden board is actually what goes into the oven when it cooks, so it was very hot!
We enjoyed our day thoroughly. Hope you all did too!!!

Happy Valentines Day to one of the most amazing couples I know. I remember how your Bishop said that the two of you would do such good in the world as a couple. I am so impressed with the good that really is synergistic with you. You will do much good - the best work you will do, I am quite sure will be within the walls of your home! What a terrific family is being crafted with the two of you and your 3 adorable little boys!
what a great valentines day!! that scarf is GORGEOUS (as is Amy!) and the restaurant looks stupendous. is this right by the lake?
glad you had a great valentines! what does "hyggelig" mean? love the scarf!
What a fun day for you. I have to say the scarf is lovely. That is definately something I have never had use for here. The chocolates look so yummy too!
BTW...met your sister Angela today. She is in my cousin's ward. I threw Karma a shower, and your sister was invited. When she walked in I thought she looked so familiar, but I couldn't figure out why. Then it dawned on me that she was your sister! What a small world!
What a great day! I don't think Steve could pick out a scarf other than black. And those chocolates look like they belong in a bakery or something!
WOWEE!! What an amazing restaurant - I love that it's not all crowded like American places. And you look beautiful in the scarf Don picked for you. Those chocolates look delicious! What a fun Valentine's Day!
Looks fun - you guys look so happy. We are enjoying China but look forward to our months home this summer. We sold our townhome so we will be homeless when we go back to Utah. How long do you plan to be there? I can't believe how much your boys have grown.
How did I miss your posts? I love your post about William. Sure makes me miss him. Thanks for the video of him laughing. Brooklyn and I love watching it. Can't wait to show the boys in the morning.
What a beautiful restaurant. It makes me want to throw caution to the wind and plan a trip to come and see you.
When you are here, I want YOU to teach ME how to make those chocolates. They were gorgeous.
It was fun to her Don's voice. It seems like forever since I've seen him.
May won't come soon enough. Although the moving should make this next month fly by. How can a month full of long, exhausting days still fly by? Hmm. Well, I'm obviously tired. We just took our first load over to the house and the kids saw it for the first time. Fun but tiring. It was fun to end my day reading about my beautiful sister's family. Love you.
Your chocolates look too pretty to eat, although I sure would have been tempted and I think you look cute with your new scarf, love the color! I love learning about your Denmark world! xoxo Janey
