Housing

I don't know if you can tell in this picture, but a common thing to do on the beds here is to have on a queen sized bed frame, two smaller mattresses, two duvets, and two quilts. As we've shopped in IKEA, almost all of the displays are like that too. It's kind of strange. The guy who helped us the mattress was a great, kind older man. He recommended we get two smaller mattresses so we wouldn't feel the other one move at night, but then get one thick mattress pad for on top. He said then we won't have the divorce line and we can still be married 50 years from now. He was funny. That's what we're going to do, by the way!

Just some pictures so you can see what the typical neighborhoods are like here. This is all apartment housing. There are usually at least two little grocery stores within easy walking distance if you live in the city. The one thing America could use is more fresh bakeries, I think. I got some rolls from a bakery yesterday, and they were SOOOO good. Wow. I've also tried a new fruit here. It looks like a tomato, light orange in color and a star design in the center. Anyone know what it's called? It's delicious.

So, Dan and I sleep on one mattress...does that mean we'll be getting a divorce in 50 years? :) Let me know how the individual mattresses helps your marriage. :)

Awesome apartment buildings! They look very cool, very ornate.

sorry...he was saying that it's ok to have separate mattresses underneath as long as you have one mattress pad so you're not really divided at night. And that will help keep you married. If you have separate mattresses, separate mattress pads, quilts, everything...the divorce line is there!

I love the architecture of the buildings! That was one of the things I couldn't get enough of when we were in France. It is amazing how different the cultures are. I hope you guys enjoy your "divorce proof" mattress. :)

Hi! I was happy to find the link to your blog and to get caught up on your life in Denmark. Steph told me you guys had moved there (we had them up for Thanksgiving, which was great!) and I was curious to see how things were going. I can't wait to hear more. Merry Christmas!

Amy, I forgot to add in my email to you that I got the Santa suit from Babies 'R' Us...I think. I bought it just after Soren turned one, so it's been a while. I want to try to find another one Soren's size now. I think that'd be an awesome picture, with both of them in Santa suits together. :)
